A washroom specification perfectly suited to swimming pool changing rooms.
Honiton Swimming Pool was originally built in the 1960s and further extended in the 1980s. The swimming pool changing rooms had not been updated since then. Kendall Kingscott were asked to design the much-needed refurbishment and provide a resolution to the damp conditions.
Jacob Powell, the architectural technician who worked on the project, chose Bushboard Washrooms for the changing room specification. The main concern for the client was to ensure longevity within the damp, humid environment. Therefore the entire project was constructed from Solid Grade Laminate which is hardwearing and totally impervious to water. This means it will last through the demands of the swimming pool changing room’s everyday use and thorough cleaning regime.
Our Baseline cubicle range was chosen with Grey Oak doors and Air Force Blue for the pilasters and partitions. This matched the aesthetic the client was looking for whilst also fulfilling the functional requirements of a swimming pool. All of our cubicles are versatile meaning that the same cubicle range could be used throughout the project for the changing cubicles, toilet cubicles and also, as they were SGL, the shower cubicles too.
Changing room lockers in 2 sizes were supplied. Our Protec SGL lockers are available in 6 tier types to provide sufficient space dependant on the user’s needs. Honiton Swimming Pool opted for 2 tier and 3 tier alternating side by side to make the most of the space. Camlocks were used for each locker and each lock is numbered and has its own key attached to a wristband for the user to take with them whilst using the facilities.
Various style changing room benches were supplied throughout the area also in Grey Oak to match the rest of the project. Perimeter benches were used within the changing cubicles. Freestanding benches were placed in the open area within the changing room. Lastly, benches integrated into the lockers around the perimeter of the room. These were all specified with slots which is great for swimming pools as water is able to drain off of the seats.
Jacob liked that their clients were given a wide range of colours to choose from and that the specification suited the environment perfectly. However ultimately, choosing Bushboard Washrooms for the Honiton Swimming Pool project was down to our competitive prices. Jacob stated that “the customer service helped too” and he will be reaching out to Bushboard Washrooms to quote his future projects.
